Cafe Django - Gypsy Jazz &
Hot Harmonica Swing!

Inspired by Django Reinhardt and the Swing Era, Peter Golding fashion designer and rock art collector created Cafe Django as a forward looking band line up, still true to these origins of music. His favourite instrument Chromatic (side button) and Diatonic (blues) harmonicas are almost unknown in this field but as he says “Larry Adler played with Django so why shouldn’t I try!!”
The band consists of a classic Hot Club line up with two leading guitarists of the style ( Simon Moore and Ducato Piotrowski) playing Macaferi type instruments supported by a slappin’ hot double bass (Victor Obust). To this rocking rhythm add the variation of amazing accordion both lead and rhythm (Danny Teper) and newest member on tenor saxophone (Andy Williamson) whose versatility and gentle style contributes an additional dimension.
Following tradition there are no drums and all instruments are effectively amplified acoustically offering an authentic presence of unity and musicianship within an established yet modern musical setting. Many of the classic numbers are generally known and there are even some vocals. As Peter mentions “We just love to create a dialogue with our audience and like Duke Ellington and Django Reinhardt ‘It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing’!!”
